Joe to Pro Cycling

In 2009 I'd been inactive for 8 years, had just turned 30, weighed 240 lbs and had enough. This blog is the journey of starting brand new in the sport of cycling, regaining fitness and aiming to compete in the Elite ranks of Amateur racing.

Current Weight: 180 lbs

    Find me on...

Did our own Gentleman’s Ride this morning.

Went into a couple of bike shops here in Ft Collins today. Both very nice, well laid out, friendly staff - but both felt very empty. Not empty of product, they had plenty of that. Empty of meaning and empty of relationships. I’m sure over time if I lived here I’d get to know the staff and they turn from people working there to friends in cycling.

It was eye opening that products aren’t that big of a draw - but that community and 1-1 connection are everything in a bike shop.

It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle. -Ernest Hemingway

Ride from Ft Collins to Estes Park today - was definitely a #rapharising ride. Gorgeous.

S-Works Venge Frameset and Rapids CL40 wheels still need a good home.

$1,600 for Venge. Was a Demo frame that I put together and road this year. Clear coat chips in several spots, but sexy and sound overall.

$1,000 for wheels - light and fast!

Del Taco is coming to Edmond. #shrimptacos

It’s going to be HOT in PDX this week. That @skratchlabs is going to come in handy.

I’d love to me a skinny cyclist. (150 lbs in my book). But I just don’t know if it’s in the cards.

Early morning rides are the best part of summer.
